    need some pushing

    OK so me and my mom haven't exercised at all this week ... its like we are just going back into our awful rut. I look at the exercie equipment and just cringe. I guess thats why I haven't posted in a week cause I don't want to have to face up to the fact that we can't do this. I mean we can but we need pushing. I know it isn't an excuse but we have had some complications, snow and rain have stopped us from being able to hike (and that depresses me) also I sometimes think God didn't create me with a will!! I'm looking into possibly hiring a personal trainer ... I'm serious!!! I have to do something.

    Game Plan Revision

    Ok at first I said that we would be doing only veggies and fruit for our last two meals of the day. (since we eat 5 a day) However, on the new healthy tip I posted, it made really good since to add at least one portion of bread or whole grain to each meal in order to make sure you are getting the 5-6 servings a day you need.
     
    I'm excited cause I recieved my hiking back pack today. It holds water, food, survival gear, etc. This way I can now train better for hiking. We went again, except this time we went walking on this huge 500 acre farm. It was nice and smelly.... lol but nothing me and mom aren't used to seeing how we live in a farming community.

    Simple Recipe For Lunch

    Since I'm a student I don't really have to worry about only getting an hour for lunch. However, my mom is a 9-5'er so I try to come up with meals that we can cook the night before or that she can make right then. I have to admit I love my pasta. So in order to satisfy that craving yet still have moderation I came up with this recipe.
     
    Things you will need:
     
    1 3oz salmon packet (you can get these in the tuna aisle)
    1 tblsp lemon pepper seasoning
    1 tsp basil (dried)
    1 tsp olive oil
    1 small hand full of Whole Wheat Noodles
     
    This should be one serving but you can adjust it the way you would like.
     
    The only thing you have to cook is the noodles which take 9-11 minutes depending on how firm you like your noodles.
    After you have those cooked drain and put to the side. Take a bowl and mix the salmon with all the other ingrediants. Add or decrease the seasoning to taste and then add in the noodles. If you mix well enough the olive oil should be enough to coat evenly without a heavy oil taste in any one area. Enjoy!!
     
    If you pre-cook the noodles and then take with you to work, when you microwave I would suggest putting about a tblsp and 1/2 of water in the bowl so the noodles don't get to overcooked or dried out.

    First Day of Hiking

      We decided to get up on Sunday morning and go hiking up Crowders Mtn. Its a small local state park close to where we live. We haven't been hiking up there since Ashley was in high school.  Well with my fiance in tow we all drive down to one of the trail heads and decided to treadway on the tread-way.  (This might give a hint as to our last names and the nice lil slogan we have going) We decided to climb on an easy trail for the first one and to our surprise did very well. I forget how much I miss nature until I'm actually out there on my hands and knees scaling rock faces. I do actually truely miss it. We both get so caught up in the daily hussle and bussle and its always nice to be able to just stand out on a projected rock and see what all God gave us as a gift and responsiblity. Even if we don't get to go on television or get our lil 15 minute of fame, we still have that rock we can shout our names from!! lol I'm just kidding. I mean the importance of us out there is like this.... we can use the treadmill and get on the floor and do sit-ups til we throw-up but you will never get that high like you are when you are out in nature. 
       We have decided to hike every weekend whether rain or shine. My daughter is training anyway to do the appalachian trail in late may and so she has to get used to hiking for 8 hours a day whether it be rain or shine. Of course we are starting off slow cause I don't want to kill me or her. lol

    The Game Plan

        Today I started doing a lot of paper work!! lol Well it's actually paper work on how mother and I will attack this problem called fat.  You can see on the motivational items pic album some of the paper work I did. When in college I studied athletic training for a while so I took the nutrition classes and the how to classes of workouts and weight loss and muscle building. To bad it hasn't sunk in til now. I don't care if any one decides to also follow this plan .... I say please do cause this will be a life change, not just a diet. I could use the support!! lol I will give you the main points cause well it would be really long if I added detail.
     
         We want to boost our metabolisms so instead of 3 meals we will be doing 3 meals and 2 snack times. Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner. Also there is a reason why people say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast will be our most calorie consuming meal. We are only allowing ourselves to eat meat, bread, and drink milk during the first 3 eating times of the day. Having to find all vege meals should bring out fun and interesting foods and ideas on recipes.
     
         Exercise is a must 30 minutes a day. This however is an absolute minimum. Our workout regiment will consist of 30 minutes cardio, 30 min. resistance, or 30 min. cross training. These will be added together to complete the workouts. However, new ones will be added. New methods such as yoga cause I truly believe in stretching and staying able to be stretched. Also the more fit we get the more time and hard the workout will get.  
     
         Water is defeniatly a big thing. We won't be drinking much of anything else besides milk, the occasional juice, smoothie or green tea. I bought mom and I 1/2 gallon jugs to keep with us at all times. I'm expecting our pee to be very clear. lol
     
         The big picture is again that it has to be a life change.

           The reason I am doing this is first to save my life. I have been disgnosed with a fatty liver and it is causing bad problems. My daughter is 24, engaged and I want to be there for her through her wedding, and the birth of her first child. My plan is to stick with this new lifestyle by not viewing it as a diet. This is not a temporary thing, its my new life. I feel I should be part of a winning team because since I have lost every battle in life with my weight, when I win this battle I will have won the war.
     
                        Ashley's Reason
     
            The reason I'm entering is becasue I'm losing myself. I can't do this on my own anymore. I have to have someone/something motivating me. Also If I fail this time I won't be able to look into my mother's disappointed eyes. A mother's guilt can even make the pope hang his head in shame. The plan is to realize that its a lifestyle change. Also realizing that I don't have to starve myself or deny myself. Moderation needs to be my key to life. My team should win because we are going to be doing this the right way. No fab diets and no pay to lose gimmics. The healthy and right way will get us to our goals and winning spirits in the end.  
     

    New Year's Resolution

    As I am sure many couples have done, my mother and I have joined this space in order to be motivated to actually get off our &^%$#@~!!!! LOL! We both have had problems with our weight pretty much all of our lives. We are both tired of being statistics and also tired of worrying if whether or not in end this fat will get us. So, We have our cameras ready and fingers nibble and finally excited about the us we can create!! Or is it really just rediscovering the healthy women inside?? lol I guess that can be discussed later. I just want to add that I hope all that have joined will have comfort from each other and will reach your goals!!
